War on Christmas

about

We like Christmas just fine, we just don't feel like celebrating it in October... Have you ever rolled your eyes at Christmas trees on display by November 1st? Groaned upon hearing "Jingle Bells" on the radio before Thanksgiving rolls around? Thought "too soon" when the color palette of all advertisements immediately switches to red and green after Halloween? Then this song is for you!

lyrics

It's getting colder outside
The time has come
The jack-o-lanterns have barely started decomposing
November has only just begun
But soon the sleigh bells will be ringing
And choirs will be singing
So much for autumnal fun
They say there's a war on Christmas
But it looks like Christmas won

Why must we break out the tree
On November 1?
Even Mr. Cratchit would complain about how early
Christmas always seems to come
But for the love of all that's jolly
Can we hold it with the holly
And at least wait until Thanksgiving's done
They say there's a war on Christmas
But it looks like Christmas won

Snowmen and eggnog
Reindeer and Santa Claus
Candy canes far as you can see
Because the Christmas Industrial Complex
Just won't let us be

Stockings and gingerbread
Sugarplums in our heads
Everywhere you look is red and green
Because the Christmas Industrial Complex
Just won't let us be

So as it gets colder outside
It doesn't mean that fall is done
Though Target may start displaying garland and trees
It's important not to jump the gun
But with all the advertising
Consumer merchandising
They beat us into submission
They say there's a war on Christmas
But no one declared war on Christmas
But if there was a war on Christmas
Christmas surely won
