about

"Forces of Nature" may very well be the only pop song inspired by astrophysics. Neil DeGrasse Tyson's hit TV series "Cosmos" served as the inspiration for this upbeat tune. Scott Manley's strong rock drums, Eamonn Donnelly's punchy bass lines, and Joshua Hunter's reverberating, atmospheric guitars breathe life into this dreamy song that wistfully contemplates the laws of the universe and our place within it.

lyrics

I don’t begin to even understand
The reason things are the way they are
The push, the pull, the seemingly alarming notion that
It’s all about to change
So why should I even attempt to try to resist
Or walk away

We could be all alone together
Or altogether alone
Just spots in space
In this place that we call home
It’s all arbitrary what’s ordinary
And what’s worth a second glance
Or a chance
That the whole could be greater
Than simply the sum of its parts

It’s been said that happiness makes for empty pages
And tragedies, they write themselves
Still every day we find a way
To make something into nothing
When there’s nothing left to say

It’s true at times that we are powerless against
Some forces of nature
The rise, the fall, the overwhelming urge to stand still
And remain right where we are
The earth, it turns, and we, we learn
And we do the very best we can

We could be all alone together
Or altogether alone
Just spots in space
In this place that we call home
It’s all arbitrary what’s ordinary
And what’s worth a second glance
Or a chance
That the whole could be greater
Than simply the sum of its parts
